Come join us for Rich Duisburg book launch/Signing for his new book Red Robbo 6pm to 8pm on Friday 3 rd of October.
“I very much enjoyed Rich’s book which casts a much needed new light onto the man who became synonymous with strike action at Longbridge. Using much archive material from the University of Warwick and interviews with many people who knew Derek in his prime, this is a good read for anyone who lived through those turbulent days. Robinson emerges as a much more complex man than the image portrayed in the tabloid press adding much evidence to the view that industrial relations in that era were far more complex than most of us realised. If I have one small quibble, it is the portrayal of Michael Edwardes who in my view was much more than a Thatcherite henchman.
Personal politics will dictate what you make of all the facts that Rich reveals, but this is an easy read about a complex and much misunderstood character.
Can we get the event and the book out on social media, website and local channels. Admission is free and the cafe will be open for drinks and cold stuff.
Rich also runs an online community of slightly eccentric enthusiasts called MotorPunk.
We did a track day for them at Blyton which ended with a Rolls Silver Spirit towing a caravan around the circuit!”
