HMC Rally: Paso Robles is a three-day driving adventure connecting California over the most gorgeous and thrilling backroads the Golden State has to offer.

Choose from two startpoints – Southern CA (Thousand Oaks area) or Northern California (Portola Valley area) – and jump bumper-first into a meticulously curated backroads journey to the famed Paso Robles wine region during the height of harvest.

From Friday night’s welcome reception at HMC Rally HQ, Saturday’s middle-of-nowhere burger stop, our fireside chat with Brock Yates Jr. and Mike Musto paired with poolside cocktails and tacos, to Sunday’s morning rip to the coast, the vibe remains: casual but cool.

Lodging.

We’ll set you up with 4 star accommodations in one of two adjacent hotel properties conveniently located in Paso Robles, right at the head of our rally routes.

Meals.

Included meals kick off with a Friday welcome reception featuring Italian-inspired local fare, Saturday lunchtime burger stop, and Saturday evening Taco Bar. And yep, coffee & pastries are on us Saturday & Sunday morning.

Fireside chat with Brock Yates Jr.

Saturday evening, we’ll gather for a special conversation with Brock Yates Jr. and Hemmings’ own Mike Musto. Brock, son of legendary automotive journalist Brock Yates, has spent a lifetime around cars and racing. From joining the first Cannonball Run at just 14 to competing and later organizing the Tire Rack One Lap of America, Brock’s motorsports roots run deep. Since taking over One Lap in 2009, he has worked to restore it as a premier driving event, while also teaching advanced driving techniques with Smith Systems/Driving Dynamics.

Friday October 24th, 9am
220 mile backroads drive to Paso Robles from your choice of 2 startpoints: Southern CA (Thousand Oaks area) or Northern California (Portola Valley area), ending with a welcome reception at HMC Rally HQ in Paso Robles.

Saturday October 25th, 9am
230 mile Paso-to-Paso loop over incredible twisties and long, lonesome straights, punctuated by a brief stop for lunch in the middle-of-nowhere, winding down with a sunset taco bar at HQ.

Sunday, October 26th, 10am
50 mile loop out to the coast to take in the view before setting off for home.

Friday – The Drive In

Two groups set out—Northern pack leaves from the Bay Area, Southern pack leaves from north Los Angeles county. Both groups snake through a half-day+ of curated backroads before converging in Paso Robles. That night: a hosted welcome reception and drinks poolside. The perfect mid-California setting to kick back, share stories from the road, and meet like-minded new friends.

 Saturday – The Central Coast Loop

We start with coffee and pastries, then hit the asphalt for a half-day rally through some of California’s finest twisties. A mid-route stop for lunch and a stretch, and then it’s back towards Paso. From there, the afternoon is yours—explore the coast, relax at the hotel, and get ready for poolside tacos and drinks ahead of our fireside chat with Brock Yates Jr.

Sunday – A Proper Sendoff

First: coffee and pastries, then one last loop: long sweepers to the coast, a stop in a small seaside town for goodbyes, re-fuel, and we part ways until next time.
